Over 20 local organizations were honored for their dedication to fight food insecurity at Golden Harvest Food Bank’s Network Investment Program awards ceremony on Tuesday.
It’s an endowment fund that began in 1998 when someone left Golden Harvest $500,000.
Its purpose is to help agencies that rely on food from the organization, which supports more than 325 partners across 24 counties in Georgia and South Carolina.
“We do this grant cycle every two years. So we did it in 2024. And we actually have a committee that makes these decisions, said Amy Breitmann, president and CEO of Golden Harvest Food Bank. “So applications are received through Golden Harvest. And and then those are passed on to a committee. This year we had more than $3 million in asks across our network. And we were able to award $250,000 worth of grants across the network.”
